Combining A Kitchen & Media Space

In modern home design, the careful selection of colours and materials plays a pivotal role in creating spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. This is particularly true in

areas like media rooms and kitchens, where the ambiance can significantly impact the experience of the homeowners.

This project highlights the thoughtful choices made to enhance the media room and kitchen, focusing on colour harmony and light management to achieve a cohesive and inviting environment.

The room adjacent to the kitchen serves as the media room, featuring a TV and a Media Display Cabinet. To ensure an optimal viewing experience in this home theatre, it was crucial to minimize reflective surfaces that could cause light to bounce around the space.

After discussing the design with the client, they decided on a mid-tone shade of grey called Ammonite by Farrow & Ball. This colour not only offered visual appeal but also effectively reduced reflections on the TV screen.

For the kitchen island, the selected colour was Dimpse, also by Farrow & Ball. This shade is renowned for its delicate and understated light grey tones, which foster a calming and welcoming ambiance in the kitchen. The gentle grey hues of Dimpse beautifully contrast and harmonize with the Ammonite kitchen cabinets, which are characterized by their soft, muted appearance.

This thoughtful color combination enhances the kitchen's overall aesthetic, providing a cohesive style that is both modern and timeless. Furthermore, the choice of Dimpse adds a touch of sophistication to the kitchen island, making it a central gathering spot for family and friends. The light grey allows natural light to reflect off the surfaces, contributing to a bright and spacious kitchen atmosphere.

Overall, this careful consideration of design elements showcases a harmonious blend of functionality and visual appeal, creating an inviting culinary space.
